Surakarta, November 1, 2024 – The Center of Excellence for Science and Technology (PUI) in Arts and Culture, along with the Faculty of Language and Arts at Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA), conducted a visit to PUI Javanologi at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) on Friday, November 1, 2024. This activity took place in the peer group room of PUI Javanologi UNS, Surakarta.
The visit aimed to benchmark as part of efforts to develop programs and expand insights for the newly established PUI Arts and Culture UNESA. To enhance the capacity and quality of its programs, PUI Arts and Culture UNESA visited various Centers of Excellence in Science and Technology to gain advice, input, and innovative ideas applicable to its institution.
The event featured interactive discussions on flagship programs and management strategies at PUI Javanologi UNS, which has long served as a successful example in preserving and developing Javanese culture. A highlight of the visit was the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between PUI Arts and Culture and the Faculty of Language and Arts UNESA with PUI Javanologi UNS. This collaboration is expected to mark the beginning of closer partnerships in the fields of arts and culture and the preservation of Nusantara’s cultural heritage.
In their remarks, representatives from PUI Arts and Culture UNESA expressed their gratitude for the warm reception from PUI Javanologi UNS. They also emphasized the importance of synergy between institutions to jointly preserve the nation’s culture amid the challenges of globalization.
With its extensive experience in the development and preservation of Javanese culture, PUI Javanologi UNS hopes this visit will bring significant benefits to both institutions. Through this collaboration, both parties are expected to jointly create flagship programs that have not only local but also national and international impacts.
Programs discussed included organizing collaborative art performances, such as ketoprak with a blend of Central and East Javanese touches, and joint training sessions for artists and cultural researchers. In addition, both parties are committed to strengthening cultural documentation to provide the public with broader access to Nusantara’s cultural heritage. Through this collaboration, PUI Arts and Culture UNESA and PUI Javanologi UNS are confident in their ability to optimize the role of arts and culture as a means of education and preservation of traditional values in the modern era.
