Surakarta, August 23, 2024 – The Center for Excellence (CoE) Javanology, Sebelas Maret University (UNS) is proud to announce its participation in the Book Launching event “Meraih Cita-Cita Setinggi Angkasa” (Reaching Your Dreams as High as the Sky): The Untold Story of Josaphat Tetuko. The event, which took place on August 23, 2024, at PUI Javanologi UNS was the launch of the biography of Prof. Josaphat Tetuko Sri Sumantyo, Ph.D., an Indonesian figure who has become world-famous through his discoveries in the field of remote sensing radar technology.
This book tells the story of Prof. Josaphat’s life journey and monumental works, from his childhood in Indonesia to becoming one of the world’s leading scientists. Prof. Josaphat is known as the inventor of microstrip antenna-based remote sensing radar that is capable of detecting various natural phenomena from a distance with high accuracy. This discovery has brought Indonesia’s name to the international scene and has impacted global science and technology fields.
Prof. Sahid Teguh Widodo, M.Hum., Ph.D., a close friend of Prof. Josaphat and also a prominent academic at UNS, will be present as one of the keynote speakers at this event. Prof. Sahid, who is widely known for his contributions in preserving and developing Javanese culture, will share his views on Prof. Josaphat’s integrity and dedication in advancing science without forgetting his cultural roots and human values.
In his statement, Prof. Sahid stated, “Prof. Josaphat is not only an extraordinary scientist, but also a visionary who always inspires the younger generation to dream big and work hard. Our friendship has not only been established in the academic realm, but also in the spirit of building the nation through science and culture.”
