Javanese is one of the regional languages which is rich in proverbs and vocabulary, one of the proverbs that is often heard is “Kegedhen empyak kurang cagak“. This proverb is usually used to describe someone who has a high desire for something, but they are unable to.
Friends of Javanology, “Kegedhen empyak kurang cagak”, means the roof is too big for the pillars, so the pillars are unable to support it. The most suitable match is the size of the stake rather than the pole. An analogy of a shaky balance is that the value and proportion of income are not in line with expenditure. Desires in addition to basic needs that are forced will make someone worse off later.
Today many people just for the sake of prestige force something that is not within their reach. For example, many young people compete to look cool and stay up to date with trends, forcing them to style beyond their means. Only because of his pride and envy because he saw other people’s appearance, made him fall into unhealthy and bankrupt trends. Friends of Javanology, from that we as humans must be smart in how we carry ourselves and adjust our abilities when we want something so it’s not like this proverb.
