Manahan Area
Currently, the Manahan area is one of the public spaces in the city of Solo which is closely related to sports nuances. The existence of the magnificent and international standard Manahan stadium is an important asset for the government. Sports activities that can be carried out in the Manahan area are Football, Basketball, Running, Gymnastics, and other types of sports. All of these activities have facilities that are adapted to the sports activities carried out.
Manahan is an old residential space that was known in the early 1600s AD. Folklore trusted by local people says that Manahan became known during the era of the Pajang kingdom, as the residence of the founder of the Islamic Mataram dynasty, namely Ki Ageng Pemanahan.
At night this area turns into a snack center and a rest area for young Solo. Traditional cuisine sold by “hik” or “wedangan” sellers is easy to find in this place.
On Sunday mornings the area around the Manahan Stadium became a flash market (Sunday Market) mingling with people who came from all over the city of Solo to do sports activities. The feel of a wide field with rows of shady cypress trees along the road has become a distinctive feature of the Manahan area until now.
