At the end of the event, what the presenters had said received a response from Prof. Dr. Ir. Wiendu Nuryanti, M.Arch., Ph.D. (Former Deputy Minister of Education and Culture ( Wamendikbud) the Republic of Indonesia.
In a parallel session, the presenter delivered a review about Java as a “golden mountain” that is still alive and well. The image of Javanese culture, which is so rich in charm, has become the source of life for various civilizations, one after another, since centuries ago. The wealth of Java has attracted the attention of various groups to come and carve its history, even today. Unfortunately, the history of the “up and down” of Javanese cultural values is not all recorded and well-documented, except for Western sources which are not excluded from the interests of the author’s sponsors. Of course, this is an unpleasant reality, so efforts are needed to reconstruct and actualize old and contemporary cultural values from the right sources and methods. The word “appropriate” refers to the world view, tradition, and our natural assumptions as Javanese to formulate the Pradigma of Javanese Cultural Research Methodology.
Conventional research methods, qualitative and quantitative, made by Western scientists are not without their contribution. Very much has been achieved from the technical and emotional dependence on these two forms of research methods. However, some questions remain, the high value of the old scattered, the tangible masterpieces of the past that are still standing and/or scattered in their ruins, even those that are still vaguely hidden, how can all of this be made and explained correctly, honestly, and correctly? Isn’t there a way and a strategy? The diugemi method is ‘believed?’. It is impossible for Javanese life and all isen-isen to be realized just like that.
“Initiating the Javanese Methodology” is an attempt to fill the gaps in Javanese knowledge which is considered to have been rolling for too long along with the time which continues to make Javanese cultural scholars nervous. Discussing Javanese culture from time to time, caused concern from several circles, then the spirit grew to hold ‘scientific ngrumpi’ activities.
Participants who took part in this event consisted of experts and Javanese cultural experts, including: Prof. Suwardi Endraswara (UNY), Prof. Associate Dr. Hisham Dzakiria (University Utara Malaysia), Prof. Dr. Soetarno, DEA.
