Dr. Kanjeng Raden Tumenggung (K.R.T.) Radjiman Wedyodiningrat is a doctor and also a well-known founding figure of the Republic of Indonesia. He has the same birthday as R.A. Kartini, which is April 21, 1879. During her lifetime fighting for Indonesian independence, she was once a member of the Budi Utomo organization, and in 1945 she was elected to serve as chairman of the Investigative Agency for Preparatory Work for Indonesian Independence (BPUPKI).

In the course of history towards Indonesian independence, Dr. Radjiman was the only person who was actively involved in the arena of national struggle starting from the emergence of Boedi Utomo to the formation of BPUPKI. At the BPUPKI session on May 29 (May 29, 1945), he asked the question “what is the basis of the Indonesian state if it becomes independent in the future?” Bung Karno answered this question with Pancasila. Bung Karno’s answer and description of Pancasila as the basis of the Indonesian state was later written by Radjiman as chairman of BPUPKI in an introduction to the publication of the first Pancasila book in 1948 in Dirgo Village, Widodaren District, Ngawi Regency.

On August 9, 1945, the day after the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, Radjiman along with nationalists Sukarno and Mohammad Hatta were flown to Saigon to meet Field Marshal Hisaichi Terauchi, the Japanese commander of the Southern Expeditionary Army Group. In 1950, after becoming a member of the House of Representatives, he chaired its first plenary session. Two years later, Radjiman died and was buried in Yogyakarta. He was awarded the title of National Hero in 2013 by the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
