Talking about the culinary specialties of Solo, recently Tengkleng has become known along with the proliferation of culinary dining channels circulating on the Internet.

From the outside, Tengkleng looks like a pile of goat bones with Indonesian curry sauce. Enjoying Tengkleng is usually done by 𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘬𝘰𝘵𝘪 (biting the meat straight from the bone).

Two kinds of Tengkleng are commonly sold in Solo, namely Tengkleng Kuah and Tengkleng Rica. Tengkleng gravy has a taste that tends to be fresh, while Tengkleng rica has a sweet and spicy taste.

During the colonial period, food made from meat was only reserved for aristocrats. From the meat that is used as food, a lot of the remains of the bones and offal of goats are wasted. From here the people of Solo at that time had the idea to cook the goat “waste” so that it could be enjoyed by the community.

The name Tengkleng itself comes from the sound of bones when placed on a plate. They make a clanking sound like “𝘒𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨-𝘬𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨-𝘬𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨”.
