This station was built in 1922 by the Nederlandsch-Indische Spoorweg Maatschappij and was the closest station to the city center in ancient times, namely the Kraton and the Resident Office. Because of its location, this station was later named Kota Station. Currently, Sangkrah station is the terminus, because it only operates for the Jaladara steam train pulled by the C1218 locomotive and the Bathara Kresna railbus for the Purwosari – Wonogiri PP connection.
